Shanelle is a Cairns local and has lived in the region for most of her life. She graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Psychology in 2003 and a Post Graduate Diploma of Psychology in 2004.
Shanelle is a registered Psychologist with over 18 years of extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of a range of mental health conditions. Shanelle has a particular interest in working across the trauma spectrum, supporting the transition into parenthood, and enhancing early attachments. She also provides specialist therapeutic support for children and their families/carers experiencing significant emotional and behavioural challenges, as well as supporting people with range of other needs including stress, anxiety and mood related concerns, burnout, as well as perinatal and infant mental health.
Shanelle offers a compassionate non-judgmental presence that fosters emotional safety, which is the foundation for healing. Shanelle maintains this trauma-informed approach to her practice that allows for the integration of a range of other evidence based psychological interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to help you thrive. She truly believes in a person’s innate capacity for healing and will humbly stand by holding both your pain and your possibility.
In her spare time, Shanelle enjoys spending time with family, gardening and walking her dog.
